Deutsche Aircraft Quarterly Newsletter Q1/2025

A new chapter: From development to industrialisation

As we move from the development phase to the industrialisation phase for the D328eco®, a new era begins for Deutsche Aircraft with the appointment of Nico Neumann as co-CEO, following 18 successful years in various roles across the organisation. We are also excited to reconnect with you on our journey to reshape the future of regional aviation by addressing market changes and pressing environmental challenges. The dedication and talent of our team continue to inspire us, and we believe that the launch of our next-generation turboprop will mark a defining moment for our industry.

In this inaugural quarterly newsletter, we will share updates on our progress, insights into our strategic direction, and reflections on key milestones that demonstrate our commitment to innovation and excellence.

Deutsche Aircraft Supplier Summit

In February, Deutsche Aircraft hosted more than 60 suppliers at the first Deutsche Aircraft Supplier Summit in Oberpffafenhofen. During the event, industry experts shared their insights on supply chain resilience, environmentally friendly technologies and innovation. With our supplier network for the D328eco nearly complete, we presented awards to top performers. Attendees also had the unique opportunity to take a closer look at TAC 1, the first test aircraft of our D328eco.

Spotlight on India

Building on our announcement to collaborate with Cyient on the detailed design for manufacturing for the rear fuselage of the D328eco, we also have expanded our strategic partnership. The global intelligent engineering services company will also manage the technical documentation to support the product lifecycle of safety-critical aviation systems for the D328eco. This solution, powered by Cyient’s AI products, underlines our shared commitment to delivering innovative solutions and driving forward advancements in aviation technology.

During the first quarter, we demonstrated our commitment to India’s UDAN scheme and ‘Make in India’ initiative through our partnership with Dynamatic Technologies at Aero India 2025. Dynamatic is currently manufacturing the rear fuselage of the D328eco and by leveraging India’s world-class engineering and precision manufacturing capabilities, we are creating highly skilled jobs and strengthening the country’s aerospace ecosystem. Our team’s presence at the Dynamatic Technologies chalet during the airshow in Bangalore reinforced our partnership and India’s growing prominence in the aviation sector.

Remarkable women in aviation

To celebrate Women Of Aviation Worldwide Week in March, we spoke with some of the extraordinary #WomenAtDA to address key strategies for empowering women in aviation. We discussed a range of ideas, including the provision of scholarships and grants to alleviate the high cost of aviation training, upskilling and professional development opportunities, and the importance of mentorship and representation. Watch our inspiring #WomenAtDA series on our YouTube channel for insider tips.

We are proud to announce the appointment of Patricia Ferrari as Vice President of Supply Chain, a testament to the exceptional talent we have within our team. In this pivotal role, Patricia will lead and manage our supply chain organisation with a focus on delivering unparalleled quality and efficiency, all while driving our commitment to sustainable aviation. This leadership transition follows Maximilian D. Fahr’s departure, and we express our sincere gratitude for his dedicated service during his tenure. Patricia, who joined Deutsche Aircraft in January 2022 as the Head of Procurement, seamlessly advanced to the role of Director of Supply Chain in 2023. Since May 2024, she has excelled as Interim Vice President, during which time she effectively completed supplier onboarding for the D328eco programme.

Outlook

As we look forward, our team is diligently preparing for the Roll Out Ceremony of our inaugural test aircraft, the D328eco TAC 1, scheduled for May. This event will be followed by our participation in the esteemed Paris Air Show in June. Additionally, later this year, we are excited to mark the inauguration of our Final Assembly Line. I look forward to sharing the journey of Deutsche Aircraft with you as we lead the #TurbopropRevolution in regional aviation.

Warmest regards,

Nico Neumann

About the data:
- Source: Cirium
- Schedules data: full year 2019 vs. 2020 – excludes non-scheduled flying
- In-service data:
- For 2019 the data is dated April while for 2020 it’s dated October. We wanted to compare “shoulder month” to shoulder month, however April 2020 wouldn’t have captured the immediate impact of Coronavirus as our dataset classes aircraft as in storage after 3 months of inactivity.

DA Latest News in a Nutshell

New talent appointed to strengthen the Deutsche aircraft programme

As part of its continued support of Deutsche Aircraft’s D328eco aircraft programme, 328 Support Services GmbH recently appointed a panel of “talent experts” to further strengthen the overall team and ensure strong management structure and processes are in place across the D328eco development programme. Today we focus on the Engineering & Programme departments.

On the programme side, Mr. Peter Spyrka has been appointed Director of Programmes. Peter brings over 20 years’ experience in the global aerospace industry with engineering & development works on both civil and military aircraft programmes. Prior to joining Deutsche Aircraft, Peter worked at Airbus, leading the Hybrid Electric Propulsion System development programme for demonstrator projects. He also worked for Fairchild Dornier back in the late 1990’s.

In Engineering, Mr. Jean-Damien Mazeau has been appointed as our new Head of Propulsion Systems. Jean-Damien also brings more than 20 years’ aeronautical experience to Deutsche Aircraft, having built most of his career at Airbus. He was most recently involved with the A320neo’s entry into service, in charge of propulsion system’s global technical Support.

Last but not least, Dr. Stefan Brunner brings more than two decades of expertise and experience to his position as Head of Airframe. Throughout his career, Stefan spent more than 17 years working directly for the Airbus group where he was heavily involved with a wide variety of major engineering programmes on both commercial aviation and defence & space programmes. In his new role, Stefan will be responsible for design, analysis and modification of the D328eco airframe’s primary structure (Fuselage, Fairings, Wing, Empennage), as well as establishing new processes and procedures to complete aircraft development. Finally, he is responsible for ensuring compliance with the European Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulations.

In addition to Peter, Jean Damien and Stefan, we are also proud to announce that we have been busy hiring new talent from not only within Germany, but from all over the world. Coming from a variety of companies within the aerospace industry, we look forward to utilising our new team members’ skills and expertise to achieve the entry into service scheduled for 2025.

All are great assets to the current Engineering & Programme team and will, without a doubt, help support Deutsche Aircraft’s development programme over the coming years.
